Make it happen.

Get out there and make your ideas happen.

Often people put their own blocks in the way, 'the client didn't buy it’, ‘it wasn’t sold in properly’, ‘the budget wasn’t big enough’… everyone loves an excuse.

If you have ideas and want to get them out there. Find a way to make it happen.

// Come up with your own brief?

// Can you craft it yourself?

// Draw it, shoot it and edit it?

// Can you act in it?

// Where can you find a client for it?

// How are you going to sell it?

Cameras and kit are everywhere. Learn the skills. Adapt the idea to fit what you can make happen.

I shot, edited, danced and beat-boxed in a series of online videos, while dressed as Justin Timberlake. There was a 6-sheet poster version of it too (apologies to the great Paul Moffat who had to deal with me as a model).

Acted in an TV ad I thought no one would see, only for everyone I know to message within 30 seconds of it airing.

Photocopied my backside, which ended up on national TV and was the top result on Google images for a while.

Pasted up tiny mouse holes all around town to create our own media space.

And a lot of this stuff went on to win awards and improve my book.

Be creative in more than just the ideas. Be creative in how you make it, sell it and get it out there.

I’m certainly not going to share the video of me dancing. So don’t bother asking.

But here’s one of my other starring role, so old it’s in 4:3.
