It’s time to tell you all exactly what I think. Whether you asked for it or not.
I thought it might be worth putting some of my thoughts and experience on creative and creativity out there into the world.
In the past few months I’ve been trying to book crit, help and mentor grads, as well as a few people who’ve been working a while but feel at a crossroads. There’s often been recurring themes in these chats.
So with the goal of trying to help at least one person once (pretty small stakes to be honest), and a promise to myself not to go off into any rants (let’s see how that goes), I’m going to start posting some tips, thoughts, opinions and the like in my usual practical and pragmatic style (with less energetic hand-waving than when I talk in real life).
Maybe helpful, maybe not. And in the creative industries there’s almost never one absolute right answer or approach anyway. So feel free to ignore, use, pass on or question. In fact, ask any questions you like and I’ll do my best to come out with something sensible in response.
I’ve often said I must have made almost every mistake possible in the past. So hopefully I can help people avoid the ones I’ve made.
I’ll be posting here and on LinkedIn. Usually once a week and until I run out of opinions, not much chance of that happening.
